The Elder Scrolls Online is now available on PC and Mac!

Press Release:

“April 4, 2014 (Rockville, MD) – Bethesda Softworks®, a ZeniMax® Media company, today announced that The Elder Scrolls Online is now available for PC and Mac at retailers worldwide and on the official online store. Developed by ZeniMax Online Studios, The Elder Scrolls Online is the latest chapter in the award-winning franchise and brings the legendary experience online for the first time.

The Elder Scrolls Online allows gamers to choose their own style of play as they embark upon an epic adventure across all of Tamriel. Players can adventure alone on heroic quests as in previous Elder Scrolls games, explore the huge, rich world with a few friends, or join with hundreds of others in massive Player vs. Player (PvP) battles to save the Empire.

“We are grateful for the overwhelming response to The Elder Scrolls Online,” said Matt Firor, Game Director of The Elder Scrolls Online. “With 5 million people registered for beta, it’s clear that a large number of fans are eager to jump online and experience everything the game has to offer. We couldn’t be more excited to get it into everyone’s hands.”

The Elder Scrolls Online was named Best Role Playing Game at E3 2013 by the Game Critics, a panel of leading North American media outlets, and is considered one of the industry’s most anticipated titles for 2014. The previous chapter in this franchise was The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim® which was released in November 2011 and enjoyed worldwide critical and commercial success. As the sequel to the 2002 Role-Playing Game of the Year, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind®, and the 2006 Game of the Year, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion®Skyrim earned hundreds of ‘Game of the Year’ awards and sold over 20 million copies.

In addition to today’s PC and Mac release, The Elder Scrolls Online is in development for the PlayStation®4 system, and Xbox One®, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft. The Elder Scrolls Online has been rated M for Mature by the ESRB. For more information on The Elder Scrolls Online visit http://elderscrollsonline.com.”

New Trailer:

I haven’t participated in the beta and I haven’t read any PC reviews and I’m not playing the PC version. I’m just eagerly awaiting the PS4 version in a couple of months and I want to have a fresh impression when I do. Are y’all playing on the PC, XB1, PS4, or not at all?

The Wolf Among Us: Episode 3: A Crooked Mile

The Trailer:

If you’ve read my reviews of the first two episodes, you know that I love this game series, so obviously I’m looking forward to the next episode! Watch for my review to go up sometime next week.

Alien: Isolation

They also released a new dev diary focusing on “the sound of Alien: Isolation” this week:

October is a perfect release date for this game. I love scary/horror movies/games in October!

Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor

som_ps4_packshot_2d_eng_jpg_jpgcopy

Another game, another October 7th release date. Yep, Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor is also releasing on October 7th.

Press Release:

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor delivers a dynamic game environment where the player orchestrates their personal plan of vengeance as they bend Mordor to their will. The game begins on the night of Sauron’s return to Mordor, as his Black Captains brutally execute the Rangers of the Black Gate. Players become Talion, a ranger who loses his family and everything he holds dear, only to be returned from death by a mysterious Spirit of vengeance. As Talion’s personal vendetta unfolds, players uncover the mystery of the Spirit that compels him, discover the origin of the Rings of Power and confront the ultimate nemesis.  Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor  will be available on 7th October 2014, 2014 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC.”

    • Test your speed, skill and strategy and measure yourself against your friends on the leaderboards in this challenge mode”

New Trailer:

I’m definitely interested in Shadow of Mordor, but I am approaching it with some skepticism. There haven’t been any really good games based on Lord of the Rings that I have played, but I’m hoping this will be the first.

If you’re interested in the “Vigilante Edition” of Watch_Dogs, check out this unboxing video from Ubisoft:

I’m not big on ultimate editions, but if you’ve got the money to spare, they usually seem pretty cool, this Vigilante Edition included.

Grand Theft Auto Online

gtaonline_1024x1024

Rockstar Games sent out an update on Grand Theft Auto Online and I thought that I would share the press release with y’all!

140401_495_Bullpup_JT-(42)

“Hey everyone,

Today we are happy to share some details on a few of the many Grand Theft Auto Online updates to be added throughout the spring and beyond. Here’s a brief rundown of some of the new content, features, and enhancements that players can expect to see in the months to come.

SPRING GAME UPDATES

Capture Creator: Coming next week, the Creator community will be able to make their own original customized Capture Jobs and add to the over 3.5 million (and counting) player-created Deathmatches and Races currently available on Social Club. Players can strategically place pick-ups, define weaponry, set location, and tweak tons of other variables to make their own unique Capture Job for others to take on. We will also be reviewing homemade Capture creations to stamp standout experiences as Rockstar Verified.

The High Life Update: The High Life Update will allow players to expand their foothold in Los Santos with new high-end apartment options, the powerful Bullpup Rifle, new wardrobe items, the Dinka Thrust motorcycle and three new lavish cars to choose from, including the Super class Pegassi Zentorno. The High Life Update will also feature the debut of multi-property ownership in GTA Online, which means players will be able to own two distinct properties (with garages) simultaneously. All this plus the new Mental State player statistic, which is designed to let players see just how passive or psychotically unhinged fellow players in their session really are, and a slew of new Jobs.

Heists: Coming this spring to Grand Theft Auto Online, players can team up with their most trusted Crew members or with random other mercenaries in Grand Theft Auto Online to pull off cooperative Heist Missions for glory and profit. Stay tuned for much more information to come.

And later this year, look for even more additions to both Grand Theft Auto Online and Grand Theft Auto V, including more holiday-themed updates, some very exciting Story Mode DLC and much more.”

CONTINUING REFINEMENTS BASED ON COMMUNITY FEEDBACK

Ever since the launch of GTA Online, we’ve been continuously monitoring how the community is playing the game as well as all player feedback sent to GTAOnline@rockstargames.com address to see what the community is liking, disliking, and what should be addressed in upcoming GTA Online Title Updates.

In upcoming Title Updates and via dynamic tuning, players can expect:

  • The addition of a ‘Non-Contact’ option for Races. This will allow you to play standard Races with collisions disabled between player vehicles. Other players will appear as semi-transparent and you’ll still be able to collide with non-player traffic, structures and other scenery, but this mode – for those who want to play it – will eliminate the “rubbing is racing” mentality that some wish to avoid.
  • Players will be able to call Lester and have him tell his cop buddies to turn a blind eye to any crime you may or may not be committing for a short period of time.
  • As a reward for players who leave feedback on Jobs, there will be some bonus RP granted every time a player likes or dislikes content after playing it.
  • GTA$ payouts will be increased when completing Parachute, Races, Deathmatches and LTS Jobs with less than 4 players.
  • As part of our ongoing commitment to target cheaters and keep the game as fair as possible, we are closing RP exploits and will be adjusting the RP totals of players who we know for certain to have gained illegitimate RP by cheating. Your RP will only be adjusted if you participated in mods, hacks, DNS redirects, manipulation of cloud files, or other similarly nefarious behavior. If you grinded short legitimate missions or otherwise gained a small amount of RP without modding, your RP should not be affected by this correction.
  • We’ll be fixing the issue where players who had upgraded personal vehicles prior to Title Update 1.10 were only able to sell them for $10,000.

These are just a few of the ongoing tweaks and enhancements in the works — and as mentioned above, community members are encouraged to reach out and let us know what they’d like to see added to the world of Grand Theft Auto Online.”

I still haven’t played GTA Online, but I am really looking forward to the story DLC for GTA V!

The Bioware Store

The last four stories this week are all funny ones. This first one was an April Fool’s Day joke from The Bioware Store. They listed two new items: a Garrus Vakarian Body Pillow and a Varric Chest Toupee. I bookmarked the two items to share with y’all this weekend, but they already took them down. I tried to look for screenshots of them, but I didn’t find them. If you missed them, and feel like looking yourself, you might be able to find them somewhere on the internet. It was a pretty funny gag, though!

Think Geek

Worf2379

Think Geek and Nerdist teamed up for this April Fool’s Day prank about a new product from Rosetta Stone that teaches Klingon.

Here’s the product page: http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/1ba2/?cpg=60790773&msg_id=60790773&et_rid=881159625&linkid=60790773_feature2_1ba2

And the related video:

The product itself was much funnier than the video, but props for getting Michael Dorn in on it! Qapla!

The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead Comic Logo

Now this one just ain’t right. Skybound Entertainment and Image Comics teased us all on April Fool’s Day with a fake cover to the upcoming 129th issue of The Walking Dead.

twd-129-color-large

As you can see, they teased us all with the prospect of Daryl finally making it into the comic books, but of course it was just a gag.

Here’s the fake announcement with the cover: http://www.thewalkingdead.com/the-walking-dead-129-cover/

It fooled me for a second when I saw it on Twitter. April Fool’s Day has gotten out of hand in the internet age.

The Wolverine Musical

the-wolverine-poster

The final video for the week is another funny one, but not related to April Fool’s Day. BBC Radio had Hugh Jackman sing a parody of his “Who Am I?” song from Les Miserables about Wolverine, and it was awesome. Check it out:

Upcoming Reviews in April

Comic Reviews: The Walking Dead #124The Walking Dead #125The Walking Dead #126The Star Wars #7, and Mass Effect: Foundation #10.

I’m cutting back on my comic reviews even further. I’ve gotten involved with too many series, because there are so many good ones out there. I do have some time right now, but I don’t want to spend all of my free time writing comic reviews. I do this for fun, but it loses the fun factor with too much on my plate. Besides that fact, I will being adding a job onto my school schedule fairly soon, so I won’t have the time to spend writing on so many things fairly soon. I’m going to keep reviewing The Walking DeadSaga, and Rat Queens. I am going to finish The Star Wars and Mass Effect: Foundation, since they are ending soon. Tales of HonorSerenity, and Tomb Raider are all great, so let me be clear. I won’t review them anymore because of time, not because I don’t like them anymore. The same goes with Lazarus, which I cut out awhile ago. There have been comic series that I stopped reviewing on here, because I didn’t like them anymore, but that’s not the case with these. I will probably review a special series or book every now and then, like the upcoming Dragon Age Library Edition.

Game Reviews: The Wolf Among Us: Episode Three2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil (maybe), Batman Arkham Origins: Cold, Cold Heart (maybe), and possibly others?

There haven’t been a lot of new games that have interested me lately. Things will pick up in May.

March Poll

Last month’s poll was inspired by my then recent playthrough of Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition and the new Tomb Raider comic series. I wanted to know who you all thought was the best adventurer/archeologist. My vote was for Indiana Jones, though I’m also a huge fan of Drake and Croft too. Indiana Jones won the poll in a close one, with 60% of the vote to Lara’s 40%.

April Poll

This month’s poll is all about one of my favorite video game series of all time (the other is Mass Effect): The Legend of Zelda. I want to know which of the Zelda games are y’all’s favorites? Multiple selections are allowed. My two favorites are Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask, but I love the others listed as well.
